The Russian Defence Minister held held teleconference with the leadership of the Armed Forces

Today the National Centre for State Defence Control in Moscow hosted another teleconference of Defence Ministry chaired by the General of the Army Sergei Shoigu.

Turning to the thematic part of the teleconference, the Defence Minister proposed to discuss the creation of the "Pion-NKS" satellite, which is an integral part of the "Liana" electronic intelligence system.

According to the head of the military Department, the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation continues to work on the creation and maintenance of an orbital group of military spacecraft. In December last year, the schedule for the completion of work on the "Pion-NKS" spacecraft was approved. The timing of its launch depends largely on the companies that develop and manufacture rocket and space technology.

The next issue on the agenda of the teleconference was the implementation of the state defense order by the enterprises of the United Shipbuilding Corporation.

According to the head of the military Department, this year the Corporation will transfer to the Navy the main nuclear submarines "Knyaz Vladimir" and "Kazan", the first serial nuclear submarines "Knyaz Oleg" and "Novosibirsk", as well as the diesel submarine"Volkhov".

In addition, the fleet should include six warships - the frigate "Admiral Flota Kasatonov", corvettes "Gremiashchy", "Retivyi" and "Aldar Tsydenzhapov", a large landing ship "Peter Morgunov", a base minesweeper and three support vessels.

It is also planned to complete factory repairs of five ships.

"During the meeting, we will discuss how the Corporation's enterprises fulfill their obligations to the Ministry of Defence," the Defence Minister added.

At the end of the thematic part of the meeting, Sergei Shoigu proposed to discuss the preparations for the IX Moscow conference on international security, which will be held from 21 to 23 April. This annual event provides an opportunity to exchange views on current aspects of countering modern challenges and threats.

This year, the forum participants will discuss the most acute security problems in Europe, Asia, Africa and America.

More than a thousand delegates from 115 countries are expected to attend the forum. First of all, they are heads of defence departments, heads of international organizations, and representatives of the expert community.

"We hope that the Conference will once again allow us to consider in detail the problematic issues of our time and develop approaches to their solution," the Defence Minister concluded.
