DEFENCE MINISTER HEADED THE SESSION OF THE ORGANIZATION COMMITTEE OF THE MILITARY-TECHNICAL FORUM "ARMY-2020"

Today at the National Centre for State Defence Control, the meeting of the Organization Committee for the preparation and holding of the Sixth International Technical Forum "ARMY-2020" was held under the leadership of Sergei SHOIGU, the Head of the Military Department, the General of the Army.

It is planned to be held on August 23-29 at Kubinka (Moscow Region).

Opening the meeting, the Minister of Defence noted that the results of the Fifth Anniversary Forum had exceeded the results of the previous forum in all respects.

The Patriot ExpoCentre hosted more than 1300 enterprises and organizations that presented over 27 thousand samples of military and dual-purpose products.

The milestone event was signing of 46 state contracts for a total amount of more than one trillion rubles.

The large-scale demonstrations of the latest military equipment were held in land, water and aviation clusters - at the Alabino Military Training grounds, at Komsomolskoye Lake, at the Kubinka Airfield, as well as in all military districts and at the Northern Fleet.

The events were attended by the representatives of 120 countries, including more than 40 top-level delegations.

"Today we start working on the preparation of the "ARMY-2020" Forum. This process will require clear cooperation of various structures and departments. A distinctive feature of this forum is that it will be held simultaneously with the International Army Games", the Minister of Defence noted.

According to Sergei SHOIGU, "this format will increase the participation level of foreign delegations and expand the possibilities of official negotiations and meetings".

"Undoubtedly, this will positively affect the prestige of both events, as well as their popularity", said the Minister of Defence.

During the meeting, a plan of forthcoming works was discussed.
