Russian Defence Minister opens ARMY 2019 International Military and Technical Forum

The 5th ARMY 2019 International Military and Technical Forum (IMTF) has kicked off today in Moscow region.
Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu officially opened the ARMY 2019 IMTF.
Addressing its participants and guests, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu paid special attention to the fact that “despite the sanctions that were imposed to slow down scientific and technical progress in Russia, the defence industry enterprises not only withstand but also have development progress".
He expressed confidence that the Forum will allow guests and partners to witness it.
Russian Defence Minister also stressed over the five years of its history, the forum has significantly expanded the foreign component and representation of national enterprises of the military industrial complex.
"The number of official military delegations has tripled. There are more national expositions. This year ten countries prepared them", Sergei Shoigu noted.
He recalled that back in 2015 the Forum was attended by 818 companies presenting some 7,500 exhibits.
“Today, there are more than 1,300 enterprises present here with 27,000 samples of their products. The scientific and business program has become more intense," the Minister of Defense announced.
“In addition, there are exhibitions devoted to the peacekeeping activities of the Russian military group in Syria at the museum complex of the Patriot Park and at the Kubinka airfield,” Sergei Shoigu said.
Describing the forum as a whole, Russia's Defence Minister noted that "in a short period of time this unique project has received international recognition and has become the main event of the year for professionals of the military industrial complex".
