Russian Minister of Defence General of the Army Sergei Shoigu holds teleconference with leadership of Armed Forces

Today, Russian Minister of Defence General of the Army Sergei Shoigu held another teleconference with leadership of Armed Forces in the National Defence Control Centre of the Russian Federation.
At the beginning of the event, the Russian Minister of Defence informed the attendees on events held by the Russian President in Sochi on November 20-23, which included a number of meetings where implementation of the State Defence Order had been discussed.
According to Sergei Shoigu, during these meetings, a total of 402 instructions had been given by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief with 168 of them to the Ministry of Defence. Currently, 142 of them are fully implemented in time. The rest are under implementation.
Turning to the agenda, the Russian Minister of Defence reminded that winter training period had started in troops on December 1. He also pointed out that the last training year had turned out to be very intense. In total more than 8,000 events within combat training took place.
These included the Zapad 2017 strategic exercise, joint tactical exercise involving the Northern Fleet, Airborne Troops and Special Operations Forces, the Cooperation 2017 CSTO CRRF exercise and other international events.
The head of the defense department stated that the training plan of the Armed Forces had been implemented in full.
The Vostok 2018 exercise is to be the main event within the combat training. The drills are to take place in Siberia and Far East in August and September.
It is planned to involved troops and forces of the Eastern and Central military districts, and the Northern Fleet.
In course of the teleconference, the special attention was paid to analyzing the 2017 results in various types of support of the Armed Forces. First of all, it concerned rearmament of the Armed Forces.
The Defence Minister stressed the importance of synchronization of armament and hardware supplies with construction of respective military infrastructure. According to him, system of combat supply support is functioning perfectly, troops are projected and cargos are delivered operatively.
As Sergei Shoigu said, maintenance of high combat readiness level of the Armed Forces was the main goal of the combat service support.
The session participants also discussed issues of implementation of the state contracts for building and repairing ships and submarines for the Russian Navy.
According to General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, 9 main and 44 follow-on ships and auxiliary vessels are being built in course of 35 state contracts.
The Joint Shipbuilding Company has introduced the frigate Sovershenny into the Pacific Fleet, the icebreaker Ilya Muromets – to the Northern Fleet, and the rescue tug vessel SB-739 – Black Sea Fleet.
Issues of creation of the prospective strategic missile system were discussed at the teleconference as well.
