Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation at a meeting with his Chinese counterpart in Astana proposed to sign a roadmap of cooperation in the military field between two countries in the years 2017-2020

"Our experts have prepared a roadmap of the development of cooperation in the military field between Russia and China for the years 2017-2020. I propose today to sign it," - said Shoigu during a bilateral meeting with his Chinese counterpart Colonel General Chang Wanquan.
"It is important that Russia and China are ready to defend peace and strengthen international security by joint efforts," - said General of the Army Sergei Shoigu. He noted that the high intensity of Russian-Chinese negotiations is an "evidence of a constructive dialogue around the complex issues of global and regional security."
According to the Head of the Military Department, the relationship between Russia and China "are at a high level, developing steadily". This is facilitated by the relationship between the two leaders, the Minister said. "The recent meeting of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of China Xi Jinping within the framework of the international forum of "Belt and Road Initiative" gave a powerful impetus to our work in the current year", - said Sergei Shoigu.
He recalled with pleasure his meeting with his Chinese counterpart and work together in November last year in Beijing during the 21st session of the intergovernmental Russian-Chinese Commission on military-technical cooperation. "Then we held negotiations on the prospects for our military cooperation, interaction of military departments," - said Shoigu expressed confidence that "today's meeting will further strengthen bilateral strategic partnership."
