Heads of SCO military departments agreed on developing coordination in providing security

Defence Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states agreed on developing coordination in providing security. This was stated by Deputy Defence Minister Anatoly Antonov while summing up results of session of SCO Defence Ministers held in Astana.

According to Anatoly Antonov, heads of defence departments stress the importance of cooperated joint measures aimed at strengthening stability and security in the SCO responsibility zone in conditions of growing threat of international terrorism and religious extremism.

Moreover, preparation for joint exercises “Peaceful Mission – 2016”, which demonstrate readiness of SCO countries to fight against “three evil forces” – terrorism, extremism, separatism – was also discussed at the session.

The next session of the SCO Defence Ministers will be held in 2017 in Kazakhstan.
