Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu held teleconference with leadership of the Russian Armed Forces

Today, Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu held teleconference with leadership of the Russian Armed Forces in the National Centre for State Defence Control.

Issues of developing infrastructure of military units and formations of the Western and Southern military districts, trials of Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Gorshkov frigate, preparing Admiral Kuznetsov heavy aircraft carrier cruiser for task performance were discussed.

Before the discussion, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu reminded that the Ministry of Defence had held informal meeting with leadership of military departments of the ASEAN member-states.

According to the Russian Defence Minister, the event became an important contribution in preparing the Russia-ASEAN summit, which was to be held in Sochi in May.

Special attention was paid to the V Moscow Conference on International Security, which had been held on April 27-28.

About 700 representatives from 83 countries arrived at the forum.

“52 foreign military delegations arrived in Moscow with official visits, 19 of which were headed by leaders of military departments. The Conference was broadcasted by leading TV channels. More than 500 journalists from 90 media agencies were accredited for the event,” stated the Head of the defence department.

General of the Army Sergei Shoigu paid special attention to issues linked with the end of the winter training period of the Russian Armed Forces.

About 1,300 command-and-staff, tactic and special exercises were held by Land Forces, Coastal troops of the Navy, and Airborne troops.

More than 3,000 crews of the Russian Aerospace Forces have been prepared for combat task performance day and night in any weather conditions.

Russian Navy have trained about 240 crews of surface warships and submarines.

Russian Airborne troops have performed approximately 78,000 parachute jumps including in regions of the North Pole.

Minister of Defence General of the Army Sergei Shoigu congratulated all participants with the Victory Day.
