About 10 thousand people attended the military-technical forum "Army-2020" in Yekaterinburg on the first day of work. The solemn ceremony of the forum was held the day before at the Sverdlovsk training ground.
During the dynamic display, the forum guests were shown the combat capabilities of not only modern military equipment, but also promising ones. One of the novelties was a promising robotic complex "Marker" produced by one of the Chelyabinsk enterprises of the defence industry. The capabilities of the robotic complex were evaluated by the Commander of the Central Military District, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin, during a dynamic demonstration of the combat capabilities of military equipment. According to the developers, the complex is designed on a modular principle and can be equipped with various weapons systems, depending on the nature of the tasks.
In Yekaterinburg, the number of weapons, military and special equipment used for display has increased by 30 percent compared to last year. Guests of the forum will be able to see more than 150 units of new and modernized equipment that is in service with the Central Military District troops. The exhibition, along with the legendary Soviet T-34 tank, features the American M3 "Stewart" light tank, which is the most mass-produced in its class, and the British army's "Matilda" medium infantry tank.
The static display of modern weapons and military equipment includes the latest modifications of the T-72 tank, BTR-82A armored personnel carrier, S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems, Mi-24P and Mi-8MTV attack and multi-purpose helicopters, reconnaissance systems and electronic warfare, unmanned aircraft, NBC protection vehicles RHM-6, self-propelled 152-mm howitzer "Msta-S", engineering equipment, etc.
