The main base of the Northern fleet – Severomorsk hosted the opening of the regional program of the IMTF "Army-2020"

This morning, the opening ceremony of the regional program of the international military – technical forum "Army-2020" in the Northern fleet took place at the main base of the Northern fleet-Severomorsk. It was attended by the chief of staff of the Northern fleet, Vice Admiral Vladimir Grishechkin, and the Governor of the Murmansk region, Andrey Chibis, as well as the crews of surface ships.

In his welcoming speech, Vice Admiral Vladimir Grishechkin stressed that the forces and troops of the Northern fleet receive the latest ships, such as the frigate "Admiral of the fleet Kasatonov", the strategic missile submarine "Knyaz Vladimir". After the completion of the state sea trials, the Northern fleet will include a large landing ship "Piotr Morgunov" and a submarine missile cruiser "Kazan".

- The North sea soldiers are successfully testing new samples of high-precision hypersonic missile weapons, which will be equipped with our surface ships and submarines in the near future, - said the chief of staff of the Northern fleet.

- The Northern fleet is a bright and powerful component of our armed forces. Murmansk region is proud of its "elder brother" and, of course, the people who serve here, - said the head of the region Andrey Chibis in his speech.

The Governor of the Murmansk region arrived at the ceremony along with kovdorsky third-grader Denis Sadov, who on August 23 saved an elderly woman who fell into a drainage channel. For his heroism and ingenuity, the student was awarded a letter of thanks and a gift.

After a brief rally, the sailors marched to the sound of a band and went to their ships, while the rest of the participants of the ceremony, despite the rain, went to inspect the exhibition of modern weapons and military equipment.

Exhibitions of historical and modern weapons and military equipment will be open to the public from 10 to 18 hours in the period from 27 to 29 August at three sites in the Murmansk region: in the city of Severomorsk, the village of Safonovo and at the tankodrome in the village of Korzunovo, Pechengsky district.

For the first time in Severomorsk, residents of the Murmansk region will be shown the coastal missile system "Bal", which took part in the military parade dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory on a red square. Among the artillery weapons in Severomorsk, viewers will also see the MT-12 "Rapira" anti-tank gun, the 2B16 "Nona-K" mortar gun and the BM-21 "Grad" multiple rocket launcher system.

The "Admiral Ushakov" destroyer, the large landing ship "Ivan Gren", the large anti-submarine ship "Admiral Kharlamov", the "Elbrus" complex logistics vessel, the newest small hydrographic vessel "Nikolay Skosyrev", one of the world's largest ocean tugs – the rescue tug "Nikolay Chiker" and the raid diving boat "Ivan Shvets"-will be opened for display at the North sea berths.

In Safonovo at the Museum of Northern fleet Air Force in addition to the permanent exhibitions will be shown the historical platoon armored vehicles: a legendary medium tank T-34-85, American М3Lee raised a few years ago by divers of the Northern fleet sunk in the war at the island of Kildin transport "Ballot", self-propelled units ISU-152 and Su-100, which were recovered the personnel of the separate repair-restoration battalion of the fleet.

In the Pechengsky district near Korzunuvo, at the tank training ground of a separate motorized rifle brigade of the Northern Fleet, the military personnel of the unit will demonstrate their skills in modern combat equipment. At 11 o'clock on August 29, a tank show will begin performed by the tank battalion's driver mechanics. Visitors of the event will see "flying" arctic T-80BVM tanks that will perform high-speed maneuvering, overcoming obstacles and jumping from a trampoline. Polar tankers have prepared a number of surprises for the audience. They will also be presented with "arctic" T-80BVM tanks, 2S3 "Acacia" self-propelled artillery guns, "Tunguska" and "Strela-10" anti-aircraft missile systems and various armored vehicles of high cross-country capability.

On August 29, in Severomorsk, from 10 to 18 hours, a draw point for citizens for military service under a contract will be open, where everyone will be able to get advice on military service in various military units of the Northern fleet, on the rights and benefits of military personnel, as well as on registration of the necessary documents for entering military service under a contract.

The Northern fleet will host a scientific and practical conference on the topic "Results of the Northern fleet's expeditionary and research activities", which will review the results of research of the Northern fleet's expeditions in the Arctic and the battlefields of the Great Patriotic war in the Arctic in the area of Alakurtti and Liinakhamari.
