The military-technical forum "Army-2020" of the Western Military District opened in Kronstadt

Today, the opening ceremony of the international military-technical forum "Army-2020" of the Western Military District took place in Kronstadt. The ceremony began with the laying of flowers at the monument to Peter the Great.
"Guests of the annual forum can see how our army is changing – from uniforms and weapons to the latest models of military and special equipment," said Deputy Commander of the Western Military District for military and political work, Major General Yuri Yevtushenko, who opened the forum.
Guests of the "Army 2020" forum in Kronstadt will be able to see the practical application of more than 30 new models of ships, vessels, boats, as well as combat and special equipment. More than 300 military personnel are involved in the preparation of the exhibition and practical episodes.
The forum will feature a dynamic display, which will include corvette, small missile and anti-submarine ships, diving, landing, anti-sabotage, fire and rescue boats, hydrographic ships, and will demonstrate the actions of anti-sabotage and search and rescue teams.
The episodes of the dynamic demonstration were: trawling and detonation of a floating mine by the crew of the base minesweeper "Pavel Khenov", a demonstration of fire preparation for the landing of amphibious assault by a patrol boat "Raptor" and an anti-sabotage boat "Nakhimovets", a demonstration by combat swimmers from the anti-sabotage detachment of the Leningrad Naval Base liberation of a ship conditionally seized by pirates, a search and rescue operation to assist the crew of a conditionally in distress vessel. The highlight of the show was a 10-minute "waltz" of tugs, during which a pair of tugs, changing the speed and direction of movement, moved in parallel, towards and in opposite directions from each other with the water curtain equipment turned on. The minimum convergence distance was less than 1 meter. The new element of the "waltz" provided for the convergence of tugs towards each other at maximum speed and a u-turn at a minimum distance.
The static display shows more than 200 samples of equipment of the air defence forces, missile forces, special forces, and military police. The exhibitions on the museum-ships:"Tambovsky Komsomolets" and the "Bespokoinyi" destroyer, as well as the "Sturm Gidrokosmos", Russia's only and the world's largest Museum of deep-sea vehicles are now available for the guests.
The forum will end on August 29.
