The opening of the international military-technical forum of the Southern Military District (SMD) "Army-2020" took place on the territory of the military-historical memorial complex "Sambek heights" in the Rostov region. The start of the main military-patriotic event of the year was given by the Commander of the Southern Military District, General of the Army Alexander Dvornikov.

The readiness to open the forum on organized video broadcasting was confirmed by representatives of the command of formations and units of the Southern Military District from sites located in the regions of the Russian Federation, as well as on the territory of the Russian military base in Armenia.

Personnel from 40 formations and military units of the Southern Military District are involved in organizing the forum's events. Representatives of regional divisions of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and our colleagues from National guard participate in the exhibition events. In total, more than 12 thousand samples of weapons, military and special equipment are presented," the Commander said from the stage.

"Here, on one of the main platforms of the forum – where we are holding this landmark patriotic event together with the leadership of the Rostov region for the second year in a row, new weapons and equipment are presented, the share of which this year will reach 70 percent of their total number in the district's troops," Hero of Russia General of the Army A. Dvornikov told the forum's guests.

"We hold the military-technical forum in SMD for the sixth time and annually present new weapons and equipment received by our troops. There are samples that viewers will see for the first time. So we adopted the "Lensa" and "Tornado" armored vehicles this year and they effectively proved themselves during a sudden check of the combat readiness of our formations and military units," the Commander explained.

The static display area also features modern, powerful and high-precision weapons – "Iskander" operational and tactical missile systems, S-400 "Triumph" anti-aircraft missile systems, "Tornado-S" multiple launch rocket systems, and "Pantsir-S2" anti-aircraft missile and gun systems. Within three days, forum guests will be able to get acquainted with these and other samples, and some types of weapons will be seen in the course of practical displays.

“Here, on the territory of the military-historical complex “Sambekskie Heights”, one of the main platforms of the forum is equipped - where for the second year in a row, together with the leadership of the Rostov region, we are holding this significant patriotic event. The most spectacular stage is the dynamic display of combat capabilities of military equipment. The audience will be presented tactical techniques of modern combat, including the actions of motorized rifle units as part of a tactical air assault. Specialists of repair departments will disassemble and reassemble military vehicles in a few minutes. For the first time, Rostov residents and guests of the forum will plunge into the atmosphere of the Great Patriotic war in a partisan village, recreated to the smallest detail from the stories and descriptions of front-line soldiers.

I am sure that this year all the guests of our forum will get new and bright impressions. There is a lot of informative, interesting and exciting things on the territory, " the Commander of the Southern Military District said.

A sports cluster with shooting grounds is equipped for young people. Those who want to learn more about the conditions of military service under the contract can do this in the mobile draw point. Military cooks will treat all visitors of the forum with soldier's porridge, and artists of the song and dance ensemble of the military district will provide an atmosphere of celebration and good mood.

Grandiose events within the framework of the forum were also launched in the territories of "Patriot" parks in Stavropol territory, Vladikavkaz, Volgograd, Kaspiysk, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Chechnya and the Armenian city of Gyumri, where the Russian military base is stationed.

The IMTF of SMD is organized in compliance with the necessary sanitary and epidemiological measures aimed at excluding the spread of infectious diseases.

The international military-technical forum of SMD "Army-2020" is held simultaneously on the entire territory of SMD from 27 to 29 August this year.
