Russian Defence Minister had an appointment with Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People’s Republic of China
Today, the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation General of Army Sergei Shoigu had an appointment with Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commision of the People’s Republic of China Colonel General Fan Changlong.
During the meeting, the head of the Russian military department stated that the military cooperation between China and Russia was a basic issue of the strategic interaction of two countries, which affected stabilizing influence on the world situation.
“The most important issue of the Russian-Chinese military cooperation are the joint military exercises. They contribute to improving of combat training of the Armed Forces of two countries, and demonstrate our readiness to counteract modern threats,” noted the Russian Defence Minister.
General of the Army Sergei Shoigu reminded that during the exercises, the Russian and Chinese Armed Forces improved their cooperation in counteracting terrorist and pirate actions, and interaction between the units during the peacekeeping operations.
During the talks, Sergei Shoigu also told about the necessity to consolidate efforts of the military departments of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on solving the regional security problems.
The Russian Defence Minister also noted that the combat friendship and mutual assistance during the World War II were the solid basis of the modern relationship of the countries.
“Mutual respect of Russia and China are very important in counteracting efforts directed to rewriting the history, heroize the fascists and their allies,” said General of the Army Sergei Shoigu.
Sergei Shoigu invited representatives of the Chinese military department to participate in the Army-2016 military and technical forum, which would be held in the congress and exhibition center of the Patriot Park (Moscow region).
The Defence Minister invited the servicemen of China to take part in the International Army Games-2016 and highly assessed their participation that year. He noted high level of professionalism of the servicemen of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and capabilities of the China-made combat hardware.
The head of the Russian military department also expressed his gratitude to the Chinese party for being invited to participate in the ceremony devoted to the 70th anniversary of the end of the World War II.
“The fact that you have found possibility and necessity to arrive in Moscow on May 9 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and take part in the military parade is yet more proof of high level of interaction and our historical links in the fight against the world evil, combat against the fascism,” stated General of the Army Sergei Shoigu.
In his turn, Colonel General Fan Changlong expressed his gratitude to the Russian Defence Minister for providing an opportunity to visit the Center for Defence control of the Russian Federation.
