Interview of the Chief of the NBC Protection Troops of the Russian Armed Forces at the IMTF ARMY 2021
1. What program will the NBC protection troops demonstrate at the ARMY-2021 Forum?
This year, the troops of nuclear, chemical and biological protection will traditionally take an active part in all the events of the Forum. This is participation in the scientific and business program, and exhibition static exposition and demonstration programs of weapons and military equipment of the troops.
The scientific and business program will include round tables on topical issues of the development of weapons and means of NBC protection of troops and the population of the Russian Federation.
The demonstration program provides for the demonstration of the capabilities of special military equipment: the TOS-1A heavy flamethrower system, the TDA-3 smoke machine, as well as the actions of the flamethrower unit with the execution of firing from RPO-A infantry flamethrowers.
Like last year, the Forum coincides with the International Army Games.
Directorate of the Chief of the NBC Protection Troops of the Russian Armed Forces will prepare a site for the Fan Club of the Safe Environment competition, where modern weapons and NBC protection equipment will also be presented. I would like to note that a museum dedicated to the history of the Safe Environment competition will open this year. I invite all guests of the Forum to visit the museum and our Fan Club site.
2. How many and what new (promising) samples of military and special equipment will be presented at the forum?
Within the framework of the exhibition program, a number of modern samples of special equipment of the NBC protection troops, as well as promising NBC reconnaissance vehicles RKhM-8, RKhM-9 will be presented.
The RKhM-8 vehicle is based on the Tiger vehicle, the RKhM-9 vehicle is based on the Typhoon vehicle.
For these vehicles, absolutely new NBC reconnaissance devices have been developed, which make it possible to double the efficiency of the machines in comparison with existing analogues.
The samples are distinguished by their versatility and autonomy, and the presence in the composition of a modern instrumental complex allows you to perform the whole range of tasks for conducting radiation, chemical and biological reconnaissance both in peacetime and in wartime.
Separately, industrial enterprises will show the latest developments in personal protective equipment, reconnaissance (control) and a number of other special means. In total, it is planned to present more than 100 samples of NBC protection at the Forum.
3. What samples of new weapons, military and special hardware, including robotic ones, were accepted in 2021?
In 2021, in the interests of the NBC protection troops, it is planned to complete the development, the adoption (supply) of the Russian Armed Forces and the supply of new models to the troops for the successful implementation of the entire range of NBC protection tasks:
to identify and assess the nuclear, chemical and biological situation - promising NBC reconnaissance vehicles RKhM-8, RKhM-9, as well as sets of promising instruments and means of NBC reconnaissance, analysis and control;
to ensure the safety of troops (forces) during operations in conditions of NBC infection - these are, first of all, promising means of individual and collective protection - a combined-arms filtering protective set, an isolating-filtering breathing device, an isolating breathing device for crews of armored vehicles, a filter-ventilation universal set for military fortifications;
to reduce the visibility of troops and objects - a complex for remote control of a smoke launcher and a smoke bomb being developed for it;
on the use of flamethrower-incendiary means - the heavy flamethrower system on the wheeled base chassis and new unguided rockets of increased range for the systems TOS-1A and TOS-2.
In addition, this year we plan to complete the development and accept for the supply of the Armed Forces a robotic complex of a new generation, including both ground robots and unmanned aerial vehicles. The complex will be designed to carry out the entire range of measures for conducting nuclear, chemical and biological reconnaissance on the ground, eliminating the consequences of the use of weapons of mass destruction by the enemy and use in the event of occurrence (elimination of consequences) of accidents at NBC hazardous facilities
4. Please tell us about the planned dynamic program during the Forum.
Within the framework of the dynamic demonstration program, it was planned to demonstrate the capabilities of flamethrower units of the NBC protection troops using heavy flamethrower systems TOS-1A and infantry flamethrowers RPO-A, as well as the capabilities of aerosol countermeasures to reduce the visibility of troops and objects using smoke machines of the new generation TDA-3.
The event scenario assumes:
1. Defeat group targets with a heavy flamethrower platoon using TOS-1A
2. Destruction of a group of targets by a flamethrower platoon using RPO-A;
3. Aerosol cover (camouflage) of the water crossing by the crews of the TDA-3 smoke machines.
The dynamic demonstration will be attended by subunits of the NBC protection troops of the Western Military District and units of direct subordination.
5. What events are planned to be held within the framework of the scientific and business program of the Forum?
Within the framework of the Scientific and Business Program, it is planned to hold round tables during which, in particular, the development of flamethrower-incendiary weapons, issues of camouflage in modern armed struggle and other issues of NBC protection of troops and the population will be considered.
It is no secret that the relevance of the topics of the round tables is due, among other things, to the participation of our specialists in the military operation against terrorist formations in the Syrian Arab Republic, where in practice our models of equipment show their high efficiency.
Analysis of the experience of combat operations, the use of technology in difficult climatic conditions made it possible to form views and develop directions for its improvement and modernization.
The Round Table is just that discussion platform where you can discuss the above issues and hear different opinions.
Based on the results of the round tables, recommendations and proposals will be developed for the creation of new and modernization of existing models of weapons and means of NBC protection, for inclusion in the developed program documents.
More than 100 specialists in the field of NBC protection are planned to participate in round tables. More than 30 organizations of the military-industrial complex applied for participation in these events.
